Barking and Dagenham Council is inviting residents, businesses, community groups and partners to have their say on a new Corporate Plan that will help shape the future of the borough through to 2030.  

The proposed plan will set 20 ambitious goals designed to improve the lives of residents, create thriving neighbourhoods and strengthen partnerships across the borough.   

Built around the themes of People, Place and Partnerships, the plan will focus on the issues that matter most to local communities, from supporting children and families and improving housing, to creating safer neighbourhoods, tackling inequalities and helping residents access good jobs and opportunities.  

Before the plan is finalised, the council is launching a public consultation to gather views on the proposed priorities and ensure they reflect the aspirations and needs of the people who live and work in Barking and Dagenham.  

Residents will be asked whether they agree with the proposed goals, which priorities matter most to them, and whether there are any important issues they feel should also be included.  

Councillor Dominic Twomey, Leader of Barking and Dagenham Council, said: "We are proud of what we have achieved together as a borough, but we know there is still much more to do. Our new Corporate Plan will set out a vision for the future and the priorities we believe will make the biggest difference to residents' lives over the coming years. 

"Listening to residents is one of the most important things we do as a council. That's why we're asking people to tell us if we've got these priorities right, what matters most to them, and what they want to see us focus on as we work together to build a fairer, safer and more prosperous Barking and Dagenham.  

"We want as many people as possible to take part in the consultation to ensure the final plan reflects the voices, experiences and ambitions of our communities." 

The 20 proposed goals cover a wide range of priorities, including helping children get the best start in life, increasing affordable housing, keeping streets cleaner, improving access to community healthcare, tackling anti-social behaviour, reducing homelessness, supporting residents into good work and strengthening local partnerships.
