A man has been hit in the pocket after council officers witnessed a cigarette being thrown out of the car in Freshwater Road, Dagenham.

The Council served a notice on Mr Amran Hussain, the registered owner of the vehicle, to identify who was driving the car at the time of the offence. After failing to comply with the notice to provide information about the driver, Mr Hussain was summoned to court. 

Every One, Every Day - a platform for local people in Barking and Dagenham to build their neighbourhoods together, combats social isolation, and strengthen their communities - has been awarded £1.5 million over the next three years.

Yesterday (11th April) HRH The Duke of Sussex officially opened London’s first Youth Zone in Barking and Dagenham, a state-of-the-art facility developed by national charity for young people OnSide Youth Zones.

 

Future is the first of three brand new Youth Zones set to open in London this year with OnSide Youth Zones investing an initial £20million in Barking and Dagenham, Barnet and Croydon with a further combined £4 million per year earmarked for operating costs.

East London University Technical College (Elutec) is one of 48 University Technical Colleges in the United Kingdom and offers  an exciting educational experience to young people aged 14 to 19, who are interested in engineering, design and technology, sciences and maths. 

A property in Dagenham, which has for quite some time been a source of worry and complaints from local businesses and residents, has finally been shut down after the council resorted to court action. 

Over a period of time, local residents and shop owners reported issues to the council after they witnessed ongoing criminal and anti-social behaviour at 24A Whalebone Lane, Dagenham with evidence to suggest that the property was linked to prostitution, drug dealing, begging and other anti-social behaviour.

Barking and Dagenham Council’s energy provider Beam Energy, has launched a new competitive 12-month fixed tariff to help local residents save money on their fuel bills. 

Last Friday was a historic day at Roding Primary School as headteacher Brian Fox left the school to enjoy his retirement after 40 years teaching in the borough.

When it comes to experience of schools in Barking and Dagenham, Mr. Fox can definitely be counted on as he did not only teach in the borough but also went to primary and secondary school here.

Brian attended Ripple Infants and Juniors from 1961 to 1968 before heading on to Eastbury Secondary until 1975.

HRH The Duke Of Sussex will officially open Barking and Dagenham's Future Youth Zone on Thursday 11th April.

The new Youth Zone in Parsloes Park, Dagenham, is being developed by the national charity OnSide Youth Zones. OnSide has raised the £6.15million construction costs for the facility, from funders including Barking and Dagenham Council, The Queen's Trust, the Jack Petchey Foundation, The Serioussi Foundation via Vistra Jersey and UBS Optimus Foundation and the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

Fourteen households on the housing waiting list will now be able to move into their brand-new council homes as they got handed the keys for the new properties at Truscott House.

Truscott House in North Street, Barking, comprises of 14 homes - 12 one-bedroom terraced courtyard houses and two 2-bed wheelchair accessible homes. The homes are designed to a high standard with generous living space and are in close proximity to transport links and local amenities.

Eastbury Community School was, yesterday, awarded The Parliament Week of the Year Award for 2019.

UK Parliament Week took place from Monday 12 November and is an annual festival that engages people from across the UK with Parliament.
