No, this will allow us to collect existing fly tips quicker?
What should I do if I see a fly tip?
Please still report this to us.
What is a fly tip?
Any commercial or domestic waste which is not properly disposed through commercial contracts. i.e. items left on the Public Highway, Parks or council owned land.
Will the council enforce fly tipping still?
Yes, this is part of the data gathering process and will allow us to enforce quicker and more effectively.
Who is responsible for fly tips on private land?
The council is required to clear fly‑tipping from public land (roadsides, parks, verges, etc.), but they have no legal duty to remove waste from private land. Our role on fly tips on private land is limited to:
- investigating the incident
- attempting to identify and prosecute the offender
- advising landowners on prevention and security measures
Please report fly tip on private land and the Council will investigate.
