School Games Organisers (SGO)

At the heart of our mission is the commitment to enhance the physical and mental well-being of students through the power of sport and physical activity.

Inspiring active lifestyles through sport.

Our dedicated team of School Games Organisers (SGOs) works tirelessly to create inclusive, engaging, and competitive sports opportunities for young people across our borough.

Our Mission

We aim to inspire every student to lead an active lifestyle, fostering a love for sports that extends beyond the school gates. By organizing a wide range of events and competitions, we ensure that all students, regardless of their ability, have the chance to participate and excel.

What We do

Our Borough School Games Officers (SGO’s) plays a crucial role in promoting physical activity and organizing competitive sports opportunities for students in their local area. Here are some key responsibilities of an SGO:

  1. Promoting Physical Activity - We encourage schools to ensure that every child gets at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, with 30 minutes during school hours and 30 minutes outside of school
  2. Organising Competitions - We coordinate various sports competitions for students from Key Stages 2-4, focusing on inclusive opportunities that benefit all students, especially those who are less active
  3. Supporting Schools - We work closely with schools to maintain and grow their engagement in the School Games, helping them to prioritize physical activity and sports
  4. Leadership and Volunteering - We provide opportunities for students to take on leadership and volunteering roles within the School Games framework
  5. Professional Development - We offer professional development and resources to schools to enhance their physical activity programmes
  6. Community Engagement - We collaborate with local partners and stakeholders to create a supportive environment for school sports and physical activities
