The Council Mace used is the one granted to the town of Barking when it received the Royal Charter.

It was donated to the council by the then Charter Mayor, Mr A E Martin, who lived in Thorpe Bay, Essex.

It was made in Southend, Essex by the Messers R A Jones and Sons. As this was paid for by Mr Martin the cost is unknown.
