The Council has partnered with Voi to launch a dockless e-bike pilot scheme — the first of its kind in the borough.
The scheme will begin in mid-September 2025, initially serving Barking and Barking Riverside. Please note that all other areas of the borough will be designated ‘No-riding zones’, where e-bike riding is not permitted.
Visit the Voi London website for full details on parking, pricing, and safety.
Visit the Voi beginner’s guide for more information and Frequently Asked Questions.
You will be required to install the Voi app and create an account to use this scheme.

Parking your e-bike
During the pilot, e-bike parking is only allowed in designated hire bays, which are marked in blue on the Voi app. Some of these will be marked on the ground but some will be ‘virtual’ bays. All bays will be visible in the Voi app.
Before your trip:
- Use the in-app map to locate a nearby e-bike bay.
To end your trip:
- Park within the bay boundaries.
- Take a photo to confirm parking.
- Failure to follow the parking guidelines may result in an inability to end your trip or incur a fine.
