Dagenham landlord fined thousands for illegal outbuilding

A landlord who continued to adapt their property illegally despite warnings from the council has been found guilty of ignoring an Enforcement Notice from Barking and Dagenham Council to reduce the size of an outbuilding he had constructed.

Council enforcement officers became aware of the outbuilding in the rear garden of 78 Mayfield Road, Dagenham after it was reported to them by a neighbour.

Thousands of illicit tobacco and vapes seized in planned operations

The selling of illicit tobacco and vapes is dangerous and last week, during a planned operation codenamed Operation CeCe, Trading Standards Officers from Barking and Dagenham Council took thousands of these illegal products off the streets.

Operation CeCe took place on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 September and over the two days, 18 premises were visited, of which five were found to have illegal cigarettes or vapes.

Messy garden owner fined almost £600 by a Magistrate

A Chadwell Heath resident who ignored warning letters from Barking and Dagenham Council enforcement officers to clean up their garden has been found guilty in court.

Earlier this year, on Wednesday 1 February, Environmental Enforcement Officers responded to a complaint regarding an overgrown front and back garden at a property on Padnall Road, Chadwell Heath.
